it can be added to the whole pot or just to a cup. If u like cold or hot coffee this is the way to go. Enjoy. if u put it in the whole mixture use about a teaspoon, or just a splash in ur cup. after making your coffee, i suggest u put some Vanilla Extract in the pot and let it sit. (a friend goes to mexico and gets the mexican vanilla, says its the best, but i just used what ever i had in cabinet) A friend works for a coffee shop in New Orleans and they say this is 'there' little secret.
Look closely. To make the best coffee, you need to find a full pound bag of coffee - when you look at the grocery or coffee store (or internet), you'll be surprised to discover how few manufacturers still use a pound. The coffee has a vastly better flavor than with traditional heat-source coffee makers. We've discovered a brand from Louisiana that we love, and that our grocer carries in one pound bags. I drink my coffee black, so sugar and milk cannot hide imperfections in my cup. Get ready for the best coffee you've tasted.
My wife made a pot anyway and it was fabulous. There are some still out there, however. No more metalic/burnt taste from home coffee makers. After discovering this coffee maker, I can no longer drink my office-made coffee, and I drive right past the Starbucks every morning. You can make with less than a pound of coffee, but it requires a little bit of guesswork as to how much water to use.If you love coffee, then you will not regret trying the Toddy cold brew coffee maker. My wife's friend gave this to us a few years ago, and I snickered at the idea of cold brewed coffee.
Layers upon layers of flavor.
We have tried decaf and it is just as good. Try it you will like it. I agree that there should be a lid to put on it but aside from that the coffee you get is so smooth and wonderful I could never go back to drip coffee. I have recommended it to several friends. It is worth the little extra that you have to pay. We are hooked. I really like the fact that it is less acid.
Love the simplicity - just add hot water to the syrup; no more half-empty pots of coffee down the drain. Will save you lots of $$$'s, and I like Toddy Coffee as much or better than my favorite restaurants and coffee shops. ADVANTAGES: Easy to make coffee, coffee is very smooth and without acid taste; uses less energy to prepare, and I only prepare as much coffee as I need. Dunkin' Donuts grounds work great; the taste is much smoother and you can prepare as strong as you like. Eat your heart out, Starbucks. Huge improvement over instant coffee when camping or touring with a kayak.DISADVANTAGES: The system is not very attractive; the flimsy white plastic filter holder would have been better as Pyrex or ceramic. Pitcher should have a sleeker silhouette.COMMENTS: We make a thick coffee syrup; the process takes about 12 hours with minimal prep time.
If you get a bad cup, you can only blame yourself. The possibilities are endless. I would highly recommend for any coffee enthusiast or anyone who enjoys the culinary arts. The toddy system is a great coffee brewing system. There are many ways to customize your own brew, from the brewing process itself to how you mix up your drinks.
